Dali is known to be a famous Surrealist and depicting this theme through his paintings and other art works.

Most of his works show a sort of dream sequence which he often draws hallucinatory characters.

His major contribution to the Surrealist movement is called the "Paranoiac-Critical Method" which is a form of mental exercise of accessing the subconscious parts of the mind to have an artistic inspiration.

He used this method to realize the dreams and imagination he have in his mind, changing the real world the way he wanted and not necessarily what it was.

During his career, he focused on cubism, futurism, as well as metaphysical painting work, until in 1929, he joined the group of surrealists, and this art movement which he felt a connection to. His fame and notoriety, and talent in the art world, quickly made him a leading force in the Surrealist movement, and he became one of the representatives of the art movement during the 1930s (From biography, dalipaintings)

By far the most popular of all Dali's religious works is without a doubt his 'Christ of Saint John of the Cross',(Courtesy of www.dalipaintings.com) whose figure dominates the Bay of Port Lligat.

The painting was inspired by a drawing, preserved in the Convent of the Incarnation in Avila, Spain, and done by Saint John of the Cross himself after he had seen this vision of Christ during an ecstasy.

The people beside the boat are derived from a picture by Le Nain and from a drawing by Velazquex for The Surrender of Breda.

Palazzo Belloni (in via Barbary) will host 'Dali Experience', an experience indeed, that will allow visitors to know the artist through a novel mode of perception and more than 200 works on display.

The event in his honor, including 3D animations and interactive installations: other projections, monumental pieces, special events and upturned mustache dwell both on the outskirts and downtown. There will be 200 works on display at the Palazzo Belloni (Via de 'Gombruti 11).

A mode, unpublished and original where visitors make a trip that will go into the three-dimension of the sculptures, two-dimension of the graphic works, all the way to the final fourth virtual dimension.
